Could someone tell me what is needed to create a car insurance comparison website?
Which programs would i need to use and to create what part?
Thanks for your time
I've got some experience with web designing, what i need to know is if the website could be created using dreamweaver. . . and some more details on how to get data from the insurance companies and what programs i should use for that?
I really need a very good explanation from scratch,if you don't know please don't answer.

Thanks

If you need to ask, then you will never do it.

Well the first thing you would need is permission from the insurance companies to use their rates / names / logos, and since you have no idea what you're doing I seriously doubt they'll allow it. Maybe you should obtain some sort of web design / programming certification before wasting thinking time on this.

I have worked for a few major high street insurers, and they have all been featured on price comparison web sites, but we just underwrite the business for them, so basically, if someone takes out one of our policies through a price comparison site, we don't have any dealings with that customer. The business stays with the comparison site who administer it from start to finish and handle any claims. All we do is let them use our name, our policies and our stationery. We get paid commission on what they sell, but that is the only involvement we have with those customers. If the customer phones us or writes to us, we have to direct them back to the price comparison site as we can't even access their records.

That has been the case with all the insurers I have worked for, so aside from building a web site, you would need to negotiate contracts with the insurers you want to sell for, employ staff who are trained in insurance and insurance law to administer the paperwork, and have quite a bit of cash put aside to pay out all the claims.

That's why a lot of these price comparison web sites are bankrolled by major companies as it is an expensive business to start from scratch.
